About the role

We are looking for a Purchase Manager – Multibrands Used Cars to join our team at Inchcape Belux. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a strong stock of used cars across all brands, focusing on purchasing vehicles from B2B markets in Belgium and the EU. You’ll oversee sourcing and purchasing used cars, evaluating vehicle quality, and managing relationships with international lease companies, traders, and dealerships.

By collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, you’ll develop and execute purchasing strategies to ensure the availability of high-quality vehicles and play a key role in shaping the future of our used car portfolio.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Strategy: Work with the Head of Purchasing to create a used car purchasing strategy and annual plan for international auctions and traders.
  • Market Negotiations: Actively search for deals in the international market, evaluate cars, and negotiate prices with sellers.
  • Sales Channel Decisions: Participate in the Purchasing Committee to allocate cars to the appropriate sales channels and set pricing strategies.
  • Residual Value Monitoring: Use tools like Indicata to track residual values and report opportunities and risks.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with both external partners (traders, lease companies) and internal teams (dealerships).
  • Reporting & Analysis: Manage purchasing reports, monitor lead times, margins, and ensure vehicles meet established quality standards.

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • Education:
    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Economics or an equivalent through experience
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in the used car industry, preferably in a purchasing role.
    • Proven track record of sourcing and purchasing used cars in Belgium and the EU.
    • Strong understanding of residual values and the ability to leverage this knowledge to guide purchasing decisions.
  • Languages:
    • Excellent communication skills in English. (spoken and written)
    • Knowledge of French and Dutch is a plus
